Tuesday morning

Man, this place is a ghost town! You'd think there was a holiday coming up or something ;-)

I just don't want to do any work today. Bleh. Motivation just isn't there. Anyone else have that problem?

I swear, I'll try to make this blog more interesting for y'all. Anyone have any requests on stuff you'd like me to post about? Don't be shy!

Woo hoo for holiday weekends!

After tomorrow, it's just a half-day and then 4-day holiday weekend ahoy! Woo and two hoos! The half-day may be the toughest - I'm taking Drake to work with me. He really wants to go so I figured it'd be ok since we won't have any students there.

I picked up a bunch of books from Amy tonight, including the last two in the Southern Vampire Mysteries - I wanted to reread those. I've reread the other 7 already.

We tried to burn a copy of Sam Trammell's Q&A video that was taken last weekend but, sadly, her laptop wasn't wanting to be agreeable and the file is too large for any of the storage devices I had. *sigh* We'll try it again one of these days.

Well, that's it for now. Off to put Drake to bed and maybe get some quiet time. Wish me luck!

What’s your favorite frozen heat-and-eat food?
Pizza - it's quick and both kids like it so there's no arguing.

How sensitive are you to cool temperatures?
Pretty sensitive. It takes me forever to warm up!

How many ice-cube trays are there in your freezer?
5 - I'm an ice-crunching addict, remember?

What aspect of your life seems to be frozen in place?
My weekly routine - it varies so little from week to week! Not that that's a bad thing!

What’s your favorite blanket like?
It's nothing special really, just a blue cotton (?) blanket but it's so soft and warm and cozy!

Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night by Kresley Cole. 359 pages. This is the third in the Immortals After Dark series by Kresley Cole. This book tells the story of Mariketa the Awaited, a witch, and Bowen MacRieve, a Lykae. This book seemed to flow more easily than the previous two - I was finished with it in 2 days. I liked Mariketa - she's a character that I could identify with easier, given age and her interests. I was actually cheering for these two to work out their problems and get together. Poor Bowen had been tortured enough (you'll understand if you read the first book in the series as well as this one). All in all, I enjoyed the book and plan to read the rest of this series.

WATCHMEN review (sort of - no spoilers)

WATCHMEN By Alan Moore. Illustrated by Dave Gibbons. 416 pages. This is actually my first graphic novel - when we saw that the movie was coming out, my brother insisted that I read it beforehand so I'd have a clue as to what was going on. And I'm actually really glad I did. I got completely hooked on the story and read it in like 3 days. I really liked Rorshach, though he seems to be a black-and-white kind of guy - right is right, wrong is wrong, punishment for wrong is extreme. I like him though. I wasn't crazy about Nite Owl at first but I grew to like him more and more as the book went on. I don't really care at all for Doc Manhattan though - he may be the only one with powers but instead of using them he comes across as "poor pitiful me, my life has been wrecked" and looks down on those guys who don't have powers but are out there trying to make a difference and do the right thing anyway. I'm curious to see how they handle the story in the movie - I wonder if they'll change the ending. I'm not crazy about the ending at all, as far as the novel goes. We shall see in a couple of weeks. All in all, I really enjoyed reading this.

TMI Tuesday

1. What was the last movie you saw in a theater? My Bloody Valentine, not in 3-D

2. What is your favorite movie theater snack? The local theater has CinnaBon cinnamon buns and OMG they're so good! They're huge - I can only eat about 1/4 of one.

3. Have you ever snuck in 'outside' food into a theater?Yes - I refuse to pay $6 for a Snickers bar. I snuck my own Pepsi in last time - I knew the lines would be outrageous and I didn't want to have to stand around.

4. Have you ever made out in a theater? Not really.

5. What is the 'farthest' you have gone in a theater?Just a little petting, nothing major.

Bonus (as in optional): What is one of your favorite movie sex scene?Ooh, good question! The one in Desperado was pretty good. I'm sure there are others - I just can't think of them at the moment.

It's almost over!

The week that is. We've hit hump day - now we just gotta hold on for the downhill slide.

I intended to post last night and just didn't get around to it. I did read and check comments last night - just didn't have time to reply. To clarify what I said yesterday, I really don't think LJ is going anywhere. I'm not going anywhere until they shove me out the door. I just wanted to look for backup plans. *grin* Having a back-up is never a bad idea. I'm not panicked - just prepared. Or something.

Anyway, Raven's appointment went well. He's a bit on the heavy side (like I didn't know that) but he's grown two inches since the last time he was there and weighed and measured (roughly two months ago) with no weight gain. Believe me, I have tried to get Raven to eat healthier and be more active and he acts like I'm his worst enemy and I'm trying to kill him. I've forced it since we've moved into the new place - I cook healthier and he eats what I cook. There's still room for improvement but we've gotten better. Poor Raven had to get two shots yesterday, flu shot and something else. When he found out that he was getting shots, he told the doctor, "You know, the last time I had to get shots, I was 5 and it took 3 nurses to hold me down." The doctor did a kind of "*blink blink* Ohhhh kayyy" thing and left the room. Mom said she could hear the doc in the hall telling the nurses and kinda laughing. The next time the door opened, 4 nurses came in, one of them about twice the size of me and almost 6 feet tall (I'm not trying to be mean - I know her and she's an awesome girl but she's huge and she's tough as nails), and surrounded Raven. Mom said that his face just got kinda green as he looked around like "What have I gotten myself into?" I laughed my ass off at him! I told him he shoulda kept his mouth shut and he might have had a fighting chance *grin*My appointment at Drakey's school went very well - I was all worried for nothing. They said very complimentary things about him, raved about what a doll he is, and we agreed for another year of speech therapy. He has a little trouble with some sounds but he's improving a lot since he's been seeing the speech teacher. And he really likes her a lot so I'm cool with it.

When I got done at the school, I managed to get worked in for an oil change, bless their hearts. I didn't have an appointment but they were sweet and did it for me anyway.

Scotty came over for dinner and to watch Babylon AD last night. It was... well, it wasn't as good as I'd hoped. It was fscked up, certainly. There were quite a few scenes I could've done without actually - I know it was post-apocalyptic and it was a rough time but really, some of the scenes were for blood's sake alone. It did nothing to really add to the story. I gave it 3 of 5 stars on Netflix. It's not one that I'm going to run out and buy - Scotty gave me the digital copy anyway *grin*

I had another nightmare last night - this one was really bad. I don't know what I've done differently the past couple of days (besides work) to cause these but I've got to figure it out and stop them. *shudder* I'm still a bit tweaked out from it and it's making me a bit cranky. Hopefully, that'll wear off soon!

Well, I guess that's it for now. I should probably get some work done. Or at least pretend to for a while *grin*

How's by y'all today?

First post!

I'll be cross-posting from LJ for a while, until we see what happens with LJ.
